Here is my tattoo of a giant coconut crab /Birgus latro/,
done by Laura Naylor at the House of Ink in Kailua, Hawaii.

As adults they live on land but larvae live in the ocean.

-David Nabors

The design comes from an FE Booth Crescent Brand
Monterey sardine label, circa 1920. Very historical.

I got my tattoo for several reasons, 1) I am a marine scientist/
oceanographer and wanted a tattoo of an marine organism;
2) during my undergrad I volunteered on a mark and recapture project on seahorses in
Florida; and
3) I decided on this design (MBL logo) after a summerinternship in Woods Hole.

from the beach. It's a great life. I had to get a tattoo to do with the sea.
